Utah Travel Blog: Exploring the State's Most Scenic Spots

A few months ago, my husband and I embarked on an unforgettable journey to Utah, a state filled with incredible landscapes and charming towns. With its mix of natural wonders and urban charm, Utah has long been on our travel wishlist—and it did not disappoint. Here’s a glimpse into our adventure, featuring stops in Salt Lake City, Park City, the Bonneville Salt Flats, St. George, and Zion National Park.

Salt Lake City: A Warm Welcome

Our trip began in Salt Lake City, the state’s capital. We spent our first day exploring the city’s vibrant downtown area, which is a perfect blend of history and modernity. Temple Square was a must-visit—the architecture of the Salt Lake Temple is breathtaking, and the surrounding gardens were serene even in late fall.

For a taste of the local food scene, we practically lived on coffee (seriously, so much coffee) and had the best breakfast ever at Ruth’s Cafe. The food was amazing—the kind that you’re still talking about weeks later. It instantly became one of those spots we’ll always remember. The city’s relaxed pace was the perfect way to ease into our adventure.

Park City: A Winter Wonderland

Next, we made our way to Park City—my favorite destination in Utah. Even though it wasn’t peak ski season yet, the town’s charm was undeniable. We strolled along Historic Main Street, admiring the quaint shops and cozy coffee spots. Of course, we couldn’t resist taking the scenic drive to Deer Valley Resort and imagining what it would look like covered in snow.

Park City is also a photographer’s dream. I took my camera along and captured some stunning shots of the fall foliage blending with early signs of winter.

Bonneville Salt Flats: Otherworldly Beauty

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Bonneville Salt Flats. This surreal expanse of white salt stretching as far as the eye can see felt like stepping onto another planet. It was the perfect opportunity for a mini photo session, and the results were magical. This has quickly become my favorite photo of my husband and I.

St. George: Desert Serenity

As we made our way south, we stopped in St. George. The warm desert climate was a welcome change, and the red rock landscapes were absolutely stunning. This area had many places perfect for hiking, and had some great restaurant and coffee options!

Zion National Park: Nature at Its Finest

Our final stop was Zion National Park, a destination that left us in awe. The towering red cliffs, winding canyons, and lush greenery create a landscape that’s truly one of a kind. We hiked the Riverside Walk trail, which was relatively easy but offered breathtaking views of the Virgin River and towering canyon walls.

If there’s one thing I learned in Zion, it’s to always have a camera ready. Every turn revealed a new perspective that felt straight out of a postcard.

Reflections on Our Trip

Utah exceeded every expectation we had. From the urban charm of Salt Lake City to the natural wonders of Zion, each stop on our journey offered something unique. This trip reminded me why I love travel photography—capturing the essence of a place and preserving memories that we can cherish forever.

If you’ve ever considered visiting Utah, I hope this inspires you to make it happen. It’s a destination that has so much to offer, no matter the season. Also, if you’re planning a trip to Utah and want some incredible photos to remember it by, I’d absolutely love the opportunity to shoot for you. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to book a session!
